I am able to accept this dog within 1 week, if my application is approved. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE RESCUE DOES NOT HAVE ADEQUATE SPACE TO HOLD ADOPTED DOGS. HOLDING A DOG THAT IS ADOPTED WOULD MEAN ANOTHER DOG WHO NEEDS RESCUE WILL HAVE NOWHERE TO GO. ASKING THE RESCUE TO HOLD MY DOG WOULD BE A DEATH SENTENCE FOR ANOTHER DOG. THEREFORE I WILL NOT APPLY UNLESS I AM ABLE TO ACCEPT MY NEWLY ADOPTED DOG WITHIN 1 WEEK OR AS SOON AS HE/SHE IS ELIGIBLE TO LEAVE THE RESCUE. I have spoken with my landlord/property management (if you reside in a rental) and have their permission to adopt this pet and have notified them that a AASR representative will contact them to verify the pet policy. I understand that rescue dogs often come from negligent and/or abusive situations, and therefore will need time to adjust to our home and family. I will not have unrealistic expectations of this pet. I will give adequate time, space, and patience to allow this dog to fully adjust to our home. I will follow the 3/3/3 rule of adopting. (3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to get comfortable, 3 months to fully adjust) I will learn about and adhere to proper introductions of my current pets and new pets.
